The Ballad of a Shubenacadie was created by 'The EYM Project' led by teacher and musician, Carter Chiasson. The song and video was inspired by a performance at the site of the former residential school in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia on the very first Truth and Reconciliation Day in Canada. The goal of The EYM Project is to help young musical artists create original artist works with social messages that are important to them as individuals. Eym is an acronym for Empower Youth Music and is also a Mi'kmaq word meaning, I am here.
